ROAD-COVID19

One of the severe effects of COVID-19 appears to be damage to the body's own organs by unusual immune responses that sometimes follow the infection. This can lead to dangerous heart injury and other complications. This study will examine the blood of COVID-19 patients treated in the hospitals of Barts Health NHS Trust. There will be two groups of patients — those who have no heart injury and those who have suspected heart injury.

Blood samples will be analysed and compared to see if it is possible to create a test that will give doctors early warning of a dangerous immune response so that the necessary treatment can be started.
